The
Cobra XRS-R7 Laser and Radar Detector offers a truly unique and innovative design. The unit includes two parts: the actual
Cobra Radar Detector which should be mounted by the rearview mirror, and a wireless display/control panel which can be mounted anywhere within the vehicle. This design offers the driver a great combination: a discrete mounting location and easy access to controls!
The radar detecting unit of the
Cobra XRS-R7 has a simple, rectangular shape with no display and only one button (power). This
Cobra Laser Detector should be mounted high on the windshield by the rearview mirror. Both a hard-wire kit and an extra long straight power cord are included. These accessories are designed to allow you to route the power cable in a discrete way so that it stays out of sight.
The
Cobra XRS-R7 Laser and Radar Detector is controlled using a small control panel, called the
Remote Display Unit (RDU). The RDU includes the
Cobra R7's full color
Graphical Display, which is easy to see both day and night. It also provides access to functions such as the
Volume Control,
Options Menu,
Mute function, and more. This control panel is
Wireless and operates using a rechargeable lithium battery. A holster is included for mounting the
RDU, and includes attachments for clipping the unit on a visor or an air vent. On a full charge, the
RDU will last 40 in standard mode, 8 hours with the screen in "always on" mode.
The
Cobra XRS-R7 Laser and Radar Detector can be combined with
Cobra's
GPS locator (
GPSL) (sold separately). When the
GPSL is added, the
Cobra R7 will then be able to alert you to speed cameras and red light cameras, using
Cobra's built in database. It will also allow you to lock in your own locations for alerts. With the
GPSL, a
Digital Compass feature will also become available on the
Cobra R7, along with a
Speed Alert function.
The
Cobra XRS-R7 Radar/Laser Detector features
Cobra's
Xtreme Range Superheterodyne technology, which provides more range than past
Cobra Radar Detector models. In addition, the
Cobra XRS-R7 provides voice alerts and an intuitive
IntelliMute feature which will automatically mute the
Cobra Laser Detector based on your speed. This
Cobra XRS-R7 will also detect
POP radar, and even has built-in support for the
Ku band which is used in Europe.
The
Cobra XRS-R7 Laser/Radar Detector responds to all types of radar currently in use by police, and provides
360 Degree detection of all types of laser guns laser. The
Cobra XRS-R7 also provides detailed messages from
Cobra's exclusive
Safety Alert and
Strobe Alert warning systems. The
Cobra R7 is immune to the
VG-2 Radar Detector Detector, and provides alerts when
VG-2 is in use.
