A lighter, smaller version of the popular
EOTech 552, the
EOTech 551 Holographic Weapon Sight, Standard Reticle (Revision F, model 551) offers the same durability and function, but in a more compact unit. At 4 inches in length, this
EOTech holosight takes up less valuable rail space, leaving more room for a rear irom sight or
Night Vision mount.
The
Revision F family now features exteded Battery Life. Through an extensive research and development effort,
EOTech's team of engineers has optimized the holographic fabrication process to dramatically improve the optical efficiency of the Holo Weapon Sight. The result is 2x the battery life compared to previously published EOTech statistics.
In addition
EOTech's Revision F features enhanced
electronic circuitry which allows the brightness adjustment range to expand by a factor of 20x !! Now, the impressive low light capabilities of the Holographic
Weapon Sight are complimented with a reticle that is 2x brighter at the highest setting. Already recognized as the brightest sight in today's military market, the EOTEch's Holo Weapon Sight further eliminates any concern of reticle washout in desert or artic conditions.
The
EOTech Holosight is the 1st electro-optic sighting system to apply holographic technology to small and medium-sized weapon platforms. When used in Close Quarters Battle (CQB) environments, this revolutionary holographic weapon optic delivers amazing speed and accuracy gains, uncompromising use of peripheral vision, leaves no muzzle-side optical signature and is packaged in a compact, durable unit.
Now deployed with elite Special Forces and SWAT teams the world over, the
EOTech Holosight 551 delivers vastly improved shooting performance for all levels of operators.
The
EOTech Holosight mounts to any universal Picatinny mounting rail (supports standard Weaver dovetail) with an integral mounting platform for adaptation to user preferred eye relief. This
Holographic Weapon Sight can interface to any standard issue M16 or M4 variant in either a fixed carry handle or flattop receiver, and with no modifications to the weapon. The M16 and M4 mounting platforms provide for the functionally critical aspect of co-witnessing the iron sights within the
EOTech Holosight's Heads Up Display while maintaining the operator's critical check weld position.
The
EOTech 551 Holosight's unique switch allows the operator to instantly drop the holographic reticle's brightness to the
Night Vision mode of operation. The operator has the ability to toggle back and forth between the
Night Vision mode and the normal day/night operation within fractions of a second. The
EOTech Holosight has 10 distinct night vision settings to provide maximum flexibility to the operator. Typically 3 to 4 brightness settings are not enough to support a host of constantly changing conditions including manufacturing variances in the sensitivities of the image intensifier tubes, varying ambient environments, and varying light gathering sensitivities of the human eye across users. This
EOTech Holosight still maintains the 20 normal brightness settings for normal day/night operations.
The typical configuration is with both the
monocular night vision system and the
EOTech Holosight mounted in tandem on the weapon's receiver. Operators can also witness the holographic reticle with head/helmet mounted monocular night vision image intensifier systems, even on a partial cheekweld on the weapon's stock. This allows the operator added flexibility and greater versatility when deploying with night vision systems in the ever changing battlefield environments.
EOTech 551 Holosight has been upgraded to submersible 33 ft. water depth. Within this same feature upgrade, the membrane pad has been redesigned to greatly improve the tactile feel of the push button switches. The switches are designed with raised inlays to provide further separation between switch controls and reduce audible signature.
The
EOTech 551 Weapon Holosight (1 MOA Dot Reticle) uses two "N" type batteries.
